Just wanted to provide you with the latest update on U.S. trade and customs rules that affect your BIOM8 orders.

Current Tariff Situation

  • As of August 1, 2025, the U.S. increased tariffs on most goods imported from Canada to 35%.

  • Under the CUSMA/USMCA agreement, products of Canadian origin are exempt from these tariffs.

  • Since BIOM8 formulations are manufactured in Canada and qualify under CUSMA, you will not be charged the 35% tariff on these products.

Changes Effective August 29, 2025

  • The U.S. suspended the “de minimis” threshold (previously US$800).

  • All shipments, regardless of value, now require formal customs clearance.

  • Even small, low-value orders must now be processed through customs.

Customs Clearance Fees

  • Postal carriers now apply a $1.99 brokerage/remittance fee per shipment to cover customs documentation and clearance.

  • This charge is handled directly by the carrier during clearance and does not appear at checkout.

  • Some shipments may take slightly longer due to the added customs step.

DHL Shipments

  • DHL shipments include the required paperwork certifying Canadian origin under CUSMA.

  • There is still uncertainty about whether DHL applies additional clearance fees.

  • In some cases, DHL may attempt to collect extra fees at the time of delivery.

What This Means for You

  • No 35% tariff on BIOM8 products.

  • ⚠️ $1.99 carrier fee may apply to postal shipments.

  • ⚠️ Possible clearance fees for DHL shipments, depending on their final process.

  • 📦 Shipments may take slightly longer due to new customs procedures.

Updates will be shared here as more information becomes available.
Thank you for your understanding as you plan future orders.

Sincerely,
The BIOM8 Team

Effective Date: February 4, 2025

Dear Valued US Customers,

We want to inform you about recent changes in trade policy that will affect orders placed from our website for delivery in the United States. As a Canadian company, we are now subject to new tariffs imposed by the U.S. government on goods imported from Canada.

What are these Tariffs?

Effective February 4, 2025, the U.S. has implemented a 25% tariff on most goods imported from Canada. This is a significant change from the previous trade environment where goods from Canada were generally duty-free upon arrival in the US.

What does this mean for your orders?

  • Prices Currently Unchanged (Subject to Potential Tariff Collection on Delivery): Our product prices on the website currently remain unchanged. However, due to the new 25% tariff, it is highly likely that you will be required to pay this tariff upon delivery of your order.
  • Potential for Delays: While we are committed to ensuring timely delivery, there may be slight delays in processing and shipping orders as we and our shipping partners adapt to the new customs procedures and documentation requirements associated with these tariffs.
  • Tariff Collection on Delivery: Previously, US customers did not encounter duties or taxes upon receiving orders from us. With the implementation of these tariffs, this is no longer the case. While our website prices do not yet reflect the tariff, please be prepared to pay a 25% tariff to USPS upon delivery to receive your package.

Important Note: Uncertainty Regarding Tariff Enforcement

We are still awaiting clarification from our shipping providers regarding the exact procedures for tariff enforcement and collection. Information is still emerging, and the situation is evolving rapidly. As of now, the most likely scenario is that USPS will collect the tariff on delivery, but we are working to confirm this and will update you as soon as we have definitive information.

What are we doing to help?

  • Transparent Communication: We are committed to keeping you informed as we learn more. We are actively reaching out to our shipping partners and customs authorities for clear guidance and will update this page with any new information as soon as it becomes available.
  • Exploring Solutions: We are actively exploring all available options to understand and potentially mitigate the impact of these tariffs on our customers in the long term.
  • Monitoring the Situation: We are closely monitoring the situation and engaging with our shipping partners and relevant authorities to stay up-to-date on any further developments or changes to these trade policies.

Recommendations for you:

  • Be Prepared for Tariff on Delivery: Please anticipate that you will likely need to pay a 25% tariff to USPS upon delivery to receive your order.
  • Review Your Orders: If you have pending orders or are planning to place an order soon, please factor in the likely additional 25% tariff that may be collected on delivery.
  • Plan Ahead: Consider placing orders sooner rather than later if you anticipate needing our products, and be prepared for potential slight delays in delivery and the tariff collection process.
  • Stay Informed: We will keep this page updated with the latest information as the situation evolves. Please check back for updates.

We understand that these changes and the uncertainty surrounding them are not ideal, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these new trade policies. We remain committed to providing you with the same high-quality Canadian skincare products and excellent customer service you have come to expect from us.

For any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

The BIOM8 Team

Covid-19 Update

Despite ongoing uncertainty, order processing has not been affected. In an effort to ensure continued access to all BIOM8 formulations for both new and long term users, inventory levels have been increased in the preceding months in preparation for potential issues in logistics due to the global viral outbreak.

Additional precautions are being taken as well. Both the production facility and the packing centre are being isolated until the situation stabilizes. Incoming deliveries and personnel are being redirected to a third party to reduce the chance of anyone on the team being compromised to illness and corresponding operational disruption.

Shipping Delays

Many destinations have experience significant delivery delays that started in March 2020. These delays have been difficult to predict and fluctuate quite frequently.

USA

The majority of shipments have been moving near regular schedule and delivery delays minimal. Between the two couriers available (USPS and DHL), USPS has a higher chance of delays and advised this possibility is likely to increase as we head into the 2020 holiday period. DHL Express shipments continue to meet estimated delivery times.

Canada

Canadian shipments continue to experience sporadic delays throughout the Canada Post network. Large metropolitan areas are typically less impacted by delays than rural destinations.

Physical proximity plays a significant role in the possibility of delays and total transit time (all shipments originate from Vancouver, BC).

International

The majority of international shipments can expect significant delays due to more limited availability of flights and extra precautionary measures at mail facilities. Some countries more affected than others and the situation continues to change.

Additional Information

Additional information can be obtained directly from the corresponding courier service websites:

  • First Class
  • Priority Mail
  • Expedited Parcel
  • Small Packet Air International
  • International Tacked
  • DHL Express Worldwide

As the situation continues to change, shipping times may be unexpectedly effected enroute; especially for international shipments.

Countries not Accepting Delivery

The following countries have stopped accepting incoming international mail until further notice.

Argentina
Bahamas
Chile
Colombia
Costa Rica
India
Peru
Saudi Arabia
South Africa

Receiving Packages

In regards to the safety of receiving packages during this time, the current consensus seems to suggest the virus does not survive well on cardboard packages. Thus, mail parcels should be safe as a side-effect of transit time. Nonetheless, due the lack of control at the last point of contact (final delivery person), handling incoming mail with extra care may be worthwhile.

Please take extra care to ensure both your safety and the safety of those that are at higher risk from complications due to infection.

Ending Remarks

Hope that you and your close ones stay safe during these complicated times.

Warm regards and thank you for your support throughout the years.
